Travel, Wine & Cuisine
What unites most people?
Of course it’s a desire to travel and discover new places, people, cultures and traditions. Every year we look forward to and carefully choose the travel period, and we want to make it as diverse, unforgettable and full of impressions as possible.
So, shall we start?
I would recommend starting the journey from the east, i.e. from the Kakheti region, and of course it is important to choose a stopping place with great care and thoroughness. Estate “Svanidze” is one of the best places to stay. Estate is located in a small town, also known as the city of love – Sighnaghi – and has a history of 150 years.
The town is surrounded by a large wall, also known as the Georgian China Wall, which during the early wars was one of the main ways to defend the town population. During your stay at Estate “Svanidze” you will be able to take part in various activities such as: grapes harvesting and crushing them in an old wine press, making Georgian “Grappa” – Chacha, making Churchkhela – a Georgian delicacy, attend culinary master classes, homemade wine tasting, Georgian Bread baking and more.
You will also hear unforgettable legends, stories and legends about winemaking from the locals, as well as the history of the town and the battles fought.
Are you still at home?
Then I will tell you one secret, but do not spread it. From February 1st, 2021, the borders of Georgia are open for tourists again. Feel free to visit, sip a glass of wine by the fireplace and listen to unforgettable stories from the homeland of wine.
Ready for a
tasting journey?
We stay true to our roots and traditions. Our wines come from the finest grape fields.
Tripping around Georgia
Despite the fact that in the previous chapter you were left sitting by the fireplace with the king’s favourite amber wine, listening to various legends and myths, folk tales and unforgettable stories, you will probably agree that traveling without exploring and discovering new places is not so exciting.
So, we will start from Kakheti, learn about the history of wine making, look at the Great Mountains and taste the unforgettable Kakhetian cuisine (we talked about this in the first chapter above).
After Kakheti we are driving to Tbilisi. In the central district of Georgia’s capital you can feel a multi-ethnic and multicultural mix, which is many centuries old. The amazing fusion of Eastern and Western civilizations that adorns the capital of Georgia will leave an indelible impression on you. Tbilisi is also famous for its sulfur baths. It is in this area that you can enjoy bohemian views and taste delicious dishes or drinks.
After getting acquainted with Tbilisi, you can boldly select the following travel destinations. What would you like to see more: the mountains? The sea? Both?
When it comes to mountainous regions, extreme travel lovers can expect unforgettable impressions in Tusheti, Khevsureti, Svaneti, or mountainous Adjara. Georgia can offer a wide variety of picturesque locations that will take your breath away: From slightly lower mountainous regions to Racha to the legendary Borjomi gorge, with famous mineral waters. Kazbegi and Gudauri are near Tbilisi too. If you are more into sea landscapes, Adjara region is ready to host you.
Every region has its charm which lies in nature, traditions, legends, cuisine, and wine. Be it red or white, amber, dry or semi-sweet, table or exclusive one. Whether it is dawn, afternoon or late evening, at any time of the day or in any season, unforgettable emotions and experiences await you in any corner of the amazing homeland of wine.
